Fairport’s Cropredy Convention at 50-off to a flying start

By Sarah Edwards at

Folk rock fans at this year’s Fairport’s Cropredy Convention were treated to a spectacular live line up last night-and today’s offering looks to be just as good if not better.

A truly fantastic set and much anticipated from The Divine Comedy rounded off last night’s performances and fans also delighted at stunning performances from The Trevor Horn Band, Show of Hands, Feast of Fiddles and Fairport Acoustic.
It is clear why this festival has such staying power and no surprise at all that this year’s event was sold out. While other festivals focus more on artisan shopping opportunities and rather lacklustre looking VIP areas, at Cropredy it is all about the music and the very friendly people who go there.

The setting is superb and last night’s production quality hit all the right notes with its loyal and extremely enthusiastic audience who lapped up all the performances.
Here’s hoping the weather holds out just a little longer so we can all enjoy tonight’s appearances from artists including Richard Thompson, Petula Clark and the highly acclaimed Pierce Brothers who have a devoted fan in the lady I met in the queue for risotto yesterday afternoon!
This year’s festival is sold out-but if you have always wanted to go to a festival and have yet to do so-book your tickets early for next year and I promise that you won’t be disappointed.
