Bicester town centre shops are gearing up for a busy weekend ahead of St Valentine’s Day next Tuesday, and shop owners are urging people to show the town some love, and shop local.
Bicester is lucky to have a great range of independent shops that all offer unique gift ideas to please even the fussiest Valentine.
Husband and wife team John and Linda Galloway run Bicester’s Party Shop in Market Square-a treasure trove of fabulous hand made balloons and party accessories. Linda said: “We create individual balloons that are filled with smaller balloons-they make fantastic gifts. For Valentine’s Day we even have a balloon that sings!”
Emma Clarke and her team at Signature Flowers are expecting last minute shoppers at her Market Square Florist. She said: “Today is the calm before the storm! As well as our normal opening hours, will be open on Sunday from 9am until 2pm as well.”
In Deans Court, Sarah Haydon from Bicester Bazaar has a range of love themed gifts, many of which are ethically sourced. She added: “People seem to forget about Deans Court but we are here and have loads of gift ideas and cards.”
Book worms can be easily pleased thanks to Cole’s Books in Crown Walk. The shop’s brilliant book sale is still on and there is always new stock arriving.
Options Beauty and the Boutique always has a great range of clothes and accessories, and for Valentine’s Day, owner Jane Whiteley has pulled together a collection of bags, purses, scarves and jewellery.
